Sandvik Steel needed a way
to replace its outdated labor and inventory collection and reporting system,
while also reducing the amount of paperwork being generated during the
production process.
Dynamic Automation designed
a customized solution for Sandvik using an integrated SCADA (Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition) system. The system was developed utilizing
Intellution's Fix Dynamics along with the Microsoft's SQL Server. Fix
Dynamics provided a link between the plant machinery, along with operator
entered data, and SQL Server. SQL Server and Microsoft's Internet Information
Server provided a platform for viewing and editing data with an ordinary
Internet browser. This provided reduced paperwork along with making the
data easily accessible. Fix Dynamics VBA and Scheduler provided a platform
to transfer data to Sandvik's AS 400 mainframe at regular intervals. This
data transfer supplied labor and product costs, giving management a true
picture of the manufacturing efficiency. |
